Mutt March 2011

The first annual Mutt March was held this past Saturday at McCollum Park in Everett benefiting Chase Away K9 Cancer and Snohomish Sheriff K9 Units.  It is a cause near and dear to my heart since the Mutt mascot Sasha passed away from Lymphoma in 2010.  Amber, my 1 year old mix, and I had a great time.  There were great demonstrations going on including fly ball relays and flying disc dog demos.  There was also adoption alley, which had some of the sweetest doggies and kitties that were homeless,  looking for a family to call their own.

I took a few snapshots of the days events, and some of the participants.  It turned out to be a fairly nice day, not much sun but no rain!!

These first few pics were taken from adoption alley.  Such beautiful, loving  animals needing  homes.  I wish I could take them all home.

These next few are of the fly ball relay and the disc demos.  Some incredible stuff, these dogs are great athletes and love what they do.  It’s so amazing seeing dog and handler work together.

A few more of some of the attendees.

Celebrating Summer in Seattle

I know its not quite summer yet, but Seattleites have been waiting for a 70 degree day for 9 months.  We finally got it, and 2 days in a row.  Its weekends like these that I live for.  I can really appreciate sunshine after many months of cold and gloom. Its been a very bad spring here; cold and very wet.  This weekend I was able to almost finish my garden.  (pics of the garden are coming soon).   Besides photography, I love to garden.  I think I get that from my Mom.  She is out almost every day in the Spring and Summer doing something in her garden.

I thought I would post a few photos of Amber I took this past week in celebration of great weather, and more great weather to come.  Summers in Seattle are the best.  The first series are taken at the beach during sunset.  Unfortunately, the sun dropped down behind some clouds just as we got to the beach.  The second series of images were taken in my yard.  Amber is only 1 year old, so its not easy to get her to be still and look at the camera.  But she is learning more every day and doing great.  Enjoy!!
